Meet the founder

Hi, I’m Wendy Collins, the founder of Hundred Acre Learning Center. I’m a certified educator with over 20 years of experience walking alongside children and families here in West Virginia. Throughout my career—working in early intervention, pre‑K classrooms, and inclusive school settings—I’ve developed a deep passion for supporting the whole child and the family around them.

My Christian faith is central to who I am and guides the way I care for children, families, and community. I believe every child is created with purpose and value, and that education should nurture not only academic growth, but character, faith, and curiosity as well. I believe young children learn best in small, relationship‑based environments where they feel safe, known, and free to explore the world around them.

Outside of the classroom, I’m a mom to two adult children and have been happily married to my college sweetheart, Gregg, for the past 35 years. We are active in our church, where we serve as Sunday School teachers and enjoy singing in the choir and sharing special music together. Our faith and church community play an important role in our family life.

Much of my professional work has focused on developmental evaluation, individualized instruction, and coaching families, drawing from my experience with West Virginia Birth to Three, Logan County Schools, and Wayne County Schools. Those years shaped my heart for creating a calm, joyful place where children can learn at their own pace and where families feel supported every step of the way.

I love the peaceful setting of our farm and am passionate about using its natural environment to spark curiosity, build confidence, and support each child’s God‑given potential.

Meet Our Teaching Partner

I’m Jenny May, and I’m grateful to be part of the team at Hundred Acre Learning Center. I serve as an adjunct professor at Tri-State Bible College and have spent many years teaching and mentoring others through the study of Scripture. My background includes degrees in Bible and Theology and Biblical Studies, with training in Greek and Hebrew, and I especially enjoy helping learners grow in language and understanding God’s Word.

Teaching and ministry flow naturally from my deep love for God’s Word and my desire to see others grow in wisdom and understanding. I believe learning is most impactful when it happens within supportive relationships where encouragement, curiosity, and purpose are valued. I have a special passion for helping learners develop strong language foundations and confidence in their God‑given abilities.

For ten years, I served as the Women’s Chaplain at the Huntington City Mission while also teaching at the college level. I have also participated in mission work in India and continue to teach internationally with Ethne Bible Center. Those experiences have deepened my heart for discipleship, service, and walking alongside others in their learning journeys.

Outside of my professional work, I have been happily married to my husband, Russell, for 35 years. We have two adult married children and two grandchildren. I’m passionate about supporting children and families as they grow in faith, knowledge, and confidence, and I’m excited to share that calling with the Hundred Acre Learning Center community.
